The theme for this years’ IWD is 'Embrace Equity' which highlights the importance of ensuring that we are all working to level the playing field for all of our women and girls, by creating opportunities for everyone to shine, regardless of their background. The aim of the IWD 2023 EmbraceEquity campaign theme is to get the world talking about why equal opportunities aren't enough. People start from different places, so true inclusion and belonging require equitable action.
We are truly blessed to have a diverse and broad range of staff here at SG. We aim to promote an environment that is free from all forms of unlawful or unfair discrimination and we value and encourage diversity in our workforce. As an employer, we are committed to offering support and making reasonable adjustments to allow full participation and inclusion. We want every single person at SG to reach their full potential and do everything we can to support this.
Here are a few key messages from some of our staff about the women who inspire them:
Caring daughter, loving mother and wife. The best influence our boys could have! Dan
Sandi Toksvig co-founded the Women’s Equality Party 2015 and continues to lay down challenges to national institutions, but always with warmth, gentle humour and intelligence (and in the case of the Church of England, armed firmly with tea and cake). Ros
My daughter’s attitude and happy approach to life reminds me to smile and laugh as much possible, not to let stressful situations dominate my mindset, and live every day to the fullest. My wife is my best friend, she keeps me focussed on what is most important in life and supports me through every challenging situation I face, both in my professional and personal life. They are my inspirational women. Liam
My inspiration would be Kate Bush, who’s massively successful career is owed to following her own path within the music industry and being uninterested in fitting in. She is incredibly talented, idiosyncratic and a true all-round creative. Ethan
Susan Jellicoe – she was one of the first women landscape architects, a real pioneer, and hugely influential. She also encouraged me to become a landscape architect on completion of my Fine Art degree in 1979. Simon
Frida Kahlo - Artist and Activist: Frida Kahlo was a painter who became one of Mexico's most famous artists. She is known for her self-portraits and her use of vibrant colours. Kahlo was also an activist who fought for women's rights, political rights, and social justice. Her work has inspired countless artists and activists around the world. Erick
我愛你. Winnie
Lucky to have four generations of unbelievable women in my life all of which have contended with and have overcome huge challenges in their lives. They’re incredible every day. Scott
Every woman is great as they did humongous contributions to build a more equal world when they are facing unequal challenges every day. Special thanks to my mom. Lang
I am hugely inspired by my mum who's been amazing to me and helped support me through so much. Thanks to her I'm where I am today. Vicky
Here's to #strongwomen
May we know them;
May we be them;
May we raise them.
