We are absolutely chuffed to bits to have received the award for the Lord Mayor’s Design Award 2021 in the category of External Space Transformation for the MEAT:STACK Parklet in the Bigg Market Newcastle.
It was extremely humbling to receive this award, which was awarded alongside a number of much larger projects with regards to size and impact within the City. The MEAT:STACK Parklet was the first of its kind in the City, which sits within the wider context of our award winning Townscape and Heritage Funded Bigg Market Regeneration Scheme. The MEAT:STACK Parklet was a very hands-on project including our staff working flexibly alongside the client, NE1 and the fabricator, Raskl Studio, not only with the design, but also with fabrication and installation. It’s a good job everyone got well fed!
Liam Haggarty commented “It was an honour to not only be involved in this project but to be there to accept this award. This project presented a unique opportunity at a very challenging time for everyone, to both design and deliver a bespoke installation in the centre of our much loved City. Every member of the team was on board from the outset, and worked incredibly hard to ensure our creative vision was delivered not only to the highest standard, but also within budget and on time. Everyone really did go the extra mile and more on this project”.
We would also like to congratulate local fellow Landscape Architects Glen Kemp Ltd. who won the award in the Landscape Category for the fantastic and extremely moving re-design at St Oswald’s Hospice. Congratulations to everyone involved in that scheme.
