Saturday 26th November marks the beginning of National Tree Week and here at Southern Green we love a good tree, or even more so a whole forest of them, like the “North East Community Forest”.
With ever increasing concerns over climate change and habitat degradation, projects like the North East Community Forest offer a lifeline for communities and nature.
The projects long-term goal is to increase canopy cover throughout the North East of England, creating a forest that can capture the emissions of up to 30,000 homes a year. So far over 500 volunteers of all ages (including some of our own staff and their families!) have donated 1740 hours of their time to plant 10,190 trees, so a massive thank you and well done to all those that have helped.
Any landowners wishing to be part of this meaningful movement can get information via this link, where The North East Community Forest team is available to support you in creating your very own well-designed, sustainable new woodland.
