Now that's what I call a finial!
William Birch & Sons lifted the top of the new bandstand into place at Pearson Park in Hull last week. The bandstand is one of the features that was lost from the park in the 1960s, but is now being recreated in the spirit of the original to a design by Hugh Massey Architects. The finial has been made by Hull-based firm Batty Joinery and is finished in 23ct gold leaf which, along with the new bandstand itself, will form the centrepiece to the new bandstand gardens. Southern Green Ltd are working for Hull City Council as lead landscape architects and contract administrators for the project, which is being funded by NLHF and is due for completion in spring 2020. What a team effort!
