We love everything that Spring represents here at SG. This year, on 20th March the day and night will be of almost equal duration in most time zones in the world - we are definitely ready to welcome the lighter nights, and brighter mornings when our clocks “spring” forward an hour at 01.00 on 27th March!
The equinox formally marks the first day of spring, and usually (albeit still with the odd frosty morning) the temperature will rise, the spring sun will shine brightly, and the well-recognised and familiar spring flowers, daffodils and crocuses, tree buds and blossom all start to make an appearance. More wild animals and insects also start to enjoy the warmer weather and greener environment. Watch out for birds busily building new nests, butterflies and bees collecting pollen and nectar, spring lambs charging around in fields, and pond life becoming much more active especially with frogspawn!
Spring showers are also very warmly welcomed, they truly do make the spring time beautiful providing much needed nourishment to grass, trees and flowers, and providing a water source for animals and insects.
