Take Your Dog to Work Day
Here at SG we pride ourselves on being a diverse and inclusive equal opportunities employer. On national “Take Your Dog to Work Day” this inclusivity extends to some of our four legged colleagues as-well! We regularly have four legged, waggly tailed visitors either popping in for a quick fuss, or doing a day’s hard work promoting wellbeing by gently encouraging staff to take screen breaks (by that we mean barking at the door), or attending snagging visits on site (of course sporting the appropriate PPE. The pet visitors at SG aren’t always of the canine variety, we have even on occasion had turtles holidaying in the office while their human member of our team was travelling!
Some benefits of pets in the workplace: -
- Enhance workplace wellbeing – improving mood, mental/physical health and positive proactive attitudes. Toby defo brings the good vibes AND he encourages screen breaks and lunchtime walks.
- Spark collaboration – they can increase interaction and communication, and in some more extreme cases companion pets can be crucial for individuals who have chronic conditions or disabilities.
- Improve recruitment and retention rates/work-life balance – Lots of owners are finding their pets struggle with separation anxiety following the pandemic, so a pet friendly office alleviates the need for staff to make the often difficult or impossible decision of whether they can leave their pet or not, and/or save employees money by avoiding costly dog walking/sitting services.
