A Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment for a single wind turbine, which enabled the client to gain planning consent. The report set out the findings of a Landscape and Visual Appraisal carried out at the request of the Darlington Borough Council, and in consultation Durham County Council.
The proposed wind turbine would typically have a hub height of 40m and a rotor diameter of 54m, giving an overall height of 67m to blade tip.
A Zone of Theoretical Visual Influence (ZTV) was generated in order to select actual areas from which the proposed wind turbine would be apparent. Viewpoints were selected in a desktop study to predict likely receptors. These views were then confirmed by fieldwork and analysed in depth, with photomontages produced to establish the landscape and visual effects of the proposal.
