The Centenary Memorial Gardens at North Watford Cemetery were developed to mark the 100th anniversary of the site. The scheme has transformed several underutilised areas of the site and created a series of high quality spaces and gardens that are aimed to assist visitors in times of mourning and reflection.
Working in partnership with Watford Borough Council and SLC Southern Landscape, Southern Green created:
- A series of memorial gardens with different types of memorials and areas for future expansion
- The new ‘Centenary Memorial Garden’
- Ornamental garden for congregation and reflection
- Enhancements to the main entrance and Cemetery car park
- Enhancement to existing pond
- Introduction of benches to sit and reflect in peaceful surroundings
- Additional burial space
The site is a vital asset for those communities who wish to be buried or commemorated locally. Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: “North Watford Cemetery is a much-loved and important facility that I know brings comfort to many people. It is good that we have been able to provide this additional burial space, as well as alternative ways for people to remember their loved ones”.
