This LVIA was produced in EIA format and was coordinated by Lichfields. The proposal was developed using landscape and visual assessment pre-design to inform the development of the scheme masterplan, and to guide the location of potential development cells as well as the mitigation planting in open spaces in and around the site.

This involved an iterative process to achieve an optimal layout with green infrastructure links and an alternative development site, to provide valuable mitigation and prevent the coalescence of the adjacent settlements of Peterlee and Easington. Southern Green liaised closely with Durham County Council to agree the viewpoints and scope of the LVIA, and also produced a Landscape Strategy for both sites. The proposal has received planning approval.
