Matfen Hall is a 19th-century Grade II* listed country mansion in Matfen, Northumberland, England. It is the seat of the Blackett baronets, and in 1999 was reimagined as a hotel and country golf club. It’s ownership was transferred to the Walwick Estate Group in 2021, and has since undergone an extensive renovation of both the Mansion House and the immediate surrounding gardens.
Southern Green have provided detailed design proposals for all of the new garden areas surrounding the building, and have most recently overseen the delivery stage of both the Orangery Garden and bedroom courtyard. Extensive hard landscape works, ornamental planting, sculptures and bespoke design features have been implemented throughout each area of the gardens, enhancing the regeneration of this notable historic property. The development works are ongoing, with new phases of work including a spa, improved parking facilities, and extended golf course club house, all planned as part of the phased regeneration masterplan.
