Stephenson Quarter is a ten acre site adjacent to Newcastle’s Central Station, so named because George and Robert Stephenson had their drawing offices and workshops here and it was the birthplace of the famous ‘Rocket’ locomotive among other industrial innovations.
The fourth phase of the masterplan is the North East Futures University Technical College (UTC) building and associated college grounds. This facility provides an alternative route of education for 14-18yr old students with a specific interest in the Healthcare and Technology Industry sectors.
The development includes a number of exciting and unique semi private spaces and a roof top multi use games area (MUGA). Courtyard spaces surround the building on three sides, and the split level access provides a direct link with the exciting public realm areas which make up the site wide masterplan.
