At Seaton Delaval Hall, Southern Green collaborated with Studio Hardie to create a unique woodland play environment, championing the family visitor experience. After careful consideration, the play space was sited in the north west Woodland of the site, ensuring proposals didn’t impact on the heritage assets of the site. The concept for the play provision re-ignites the spirit of place as a venue of extravagance, offering experience and an insight into the Delaval family and their dramatic lifestyle.

The play space is designed to be challenging and offer an educational experience for visitors. The exquisite detailing by Studio Hardie naturally sparks curiosity and provocative thoughts about the lives of Delaval’s.

Studio Hardie commented ‘ Inspired by the Delaval’s love of spectacle and theatre, the woodland play area is designed around the theme of Baroque theatre, both in its architecture, scenery and exploration of false perspective.’
