This first phase of regeneration of the existing Sheffield General Hospital, has provided a scheme that is intended to set the standard for all future phases. The design includes three separate courtyard spaces, all with their own intended uses and an intricate arrangement of access ramps and steps which create a dramatic feature entrance to the new building extension.

Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust, has a vision to provide vastly improved inpatient mental health services for people in Sheffield who are at their most vulnerable and need urgent support and care. The design forms the first stage of the Trust’s ongoing plans to modernise the Longley Centre in Sheffield, and embraces the site topography. The external landscape also includes green walls, feature corten screens and bespoke timber street furniture.
