Southern Green was commissioned to join a multidisciplinary team led by Purcell Conservation Architects, selected to support the delivery of the ‘Maritime Project’, or Hull: Yorkshire’s Maritime City (HYMC).

At the heart of the project is the reinvigoration of Hull Maritime Museum and renovation of existing buildings, places, and historic ships linked to Hull’s maritime history. Moreover, the creation of new visitor centres and city centre landscaping, including Queens Gardens and associated highways alterations and crossings.

Southern Green’s role focused on the renovation of Queens Gardens in the heart of the city centre, and input to a new wayfinding strategy to reinforce links between the maritime attractions.
