This project represented an exciting opportunity to reinvigorate the public realm of Newcastle’s iconic Quayside, at an extremely challenging time during the COVID 19 pandemic.

The team at Southern Green worked within a challenging budget and timescale to deliver the summer activation project working closely alongside the client team, contractors and artists.

The works delivered include bespoke planters, a diverse range of mature plant species (all of which were hand selected by our team from a range of nursery suppliers), artwork installations in collaboration with local artists and fabricators, bespoke play features and seating. The planters and planting now provide a framework for a range of seasonal events that are delivered throughout the Quayside.
